Bio
Jacob was the son of Isaac and grandson of Abraham. The promises and blessings that were given to Abraham and then Isaac were passed on to him. He was dishonest in his life until God continued to strengthen his faith and help him recognize the care and blessings he had given him. One night God appeared in the form of a man, wrestled with him, and changed his name to “Israel,” which means “he struggles with God” (Genesis 32:22-32). He had two wives, Leah and Rachel, who bore him 12 sons. The people born from these 12 sons would become known as the “twelve tribes of Israel.”
